🧟Philosophical Zombie Experiment
Can something behave exactly like you — yet feel nothing inside?
🤔 What Is the P-Zombie Problem?
Imagine a perfect robot that copies every human reaction — smiling at jokes, crying at funerals, screaming in pain — yet inside feels absolutely nothing. Could a being physically identical to you be just like that robot?
A philosophical zombie (p-zombie) is a hypothetical being that is physically identical to a conscious human in every way — same neurons, same behavior, same speech — but has no subjective experience whatsoever. Proposed by David Chalmers (1996), this thought experiment probes the 'hard problem of consciousness': why does physical processing give rise to inner experience at all?
